The internal organisation has been redefined to enable a much more successful layout and one which maximises the connection with its natural surroundings and both immediate views and distance views.  Remodelling and restructuring the existing house has created a dramatic and unexpected sense of both space and light through the creation of double height spaces which allows light to flood into the centre of the house.  A new extension nestled against the existing building and set into the natural sloping topography creates a large, yet discrete addition.  The house now benefits from; high levels of insulation, airtightness of construction, solar gain and the use of PVs and other renewable technologies all of which have helped to minimise and improve energy consumption compared to the original house which was well below current building regulations.
